OCTOBER 23
Di jia hao!
This is week eleven of classes in Singapore. Time is really
flying! It is hard to imagine that my time in Singapore is almost coming to an
end. I am having lots of new experiences here even though I have been in
Singapore for over two months.
One experience that I found interesting was celebrating
Deepavali, which is a holiday that most of the Indians in Singapore celebrate.
It is an ancient Hindu festival also called Dwahili or “festival of lights.”
Myself and a few other exchange students ventured over to Little India to get a
feel of the holiday since classes were cancelled for the holiday. It was very
nice to see everyone so passionate about their prayers, fellowship, and
creativity. Afterwards, we found a nice Indian restaurant and ordered large plates
of food to share and ate “Indian style.”
